1908 The Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus were invited from Simpleveld, The Netherlands and Southam, Warwickshire by Archbishop Bourne of Westminster.
They set out to establish a school.
Construction on the new school building has begun (Junior Building).
The school was relocated to Chudleigh, Devon, from September 1939 to Easter 1940.
1945: the end of World War II; 324 students are enrolled.
1951 saw the submission of the application to become a volunteer-aided grammar school.
The school was granted assisted status with the Ministry of Education's approval—but only if a suitable new structure was constructed.
1957 The Senior Building's plans were approved in January, and work started right away at an expected cost of $132,000. A loan was also obtained to fund the project.
1965 In order to temporarily accommodate the growing enrollment, the independent junior school was closed, and the grammar school was given access to the Lower School (Junior Building) classrooms.
1970 The Art Hut (to be clear, the Language Laboratory was the temporary structure) was built in the place of the former eating hut.
A temporary building called the Art Hut was also constructed.
Government financing for new permanent housing, primarily to replace the Lower School building, was repeatedly sought after.
The first lay head was appointed in 1980 by Miss Mary Daly.
In 1987, a deal was made under which the school would pay the Sisters for The Grange and the entire Lower School (Junior Building) over a 50-year period.
In order to bring the buildings up to code, a grant was sought and paid for by the parents.
1995 saw the appointment of Miss Ursula Morrissey as headmistress.
Cardinal Hume O.S.B. blessed and officially launched the new 6th Form Center and Technology Block in 2004. The Junior Building's newly renovated Maths Suite and new ICT suite, which has 33 workstations, were both dedicated by Stephen Twigg, MP.
The new Sports Hall was blessed by Bishop Stack on September 28th, 2008, before Mass was said in the Marquee.
HRH Duke of Gloucester unveiled a plaque for the Sports Hall on Friday, November 7.
2009 Boys who also met our entry requirements were accepted in September to our 6th Form.
2012 Miss Ursula Morrissey retired after 41 years of dedication and devotion to St. Michael's; Mr Julian Ward was appointed headmaster.
The Sisters removed the legal fee in 2015 and refunded the remaining debt for the Lower School and Grange.
