The Year 7 community gathered in the sports hall on September 27 to mark the beginning of their adventure at St. Edmund Arrowsmith. Father John Gorman presided over the service while preaching the need for us to accept God's word. The parable of the sower and his seeds was likewise told to us. According to Father John, as Christians, our goal should be to develop into the seeds in healthy soil who listen and demonstrate the truth of God's message in their daily lives. We sang numerous hymns together that the year group had studied in music lessons, and Year 7 did a fantastic job representing the school in front of their parents and families. The purpose of the mass was to welcome the new students to the institution. We may experience obstacles, but we must overcome them, Father John stated to us. He also assured us that Jesus would be by our sides no matter what; all we had to do was trust and believe in him. As students in Year 7, we can confidently state that the mass was a good way to begin our new academic journey together. The opportunities, groups, and friendships that their first year at St. Edmund Arrowsmith will bring excite every Year 7 student. The welcoming mass was a wonderful way to unite everyone and give us all a sense of community.
