From the King Richard III Infant and Nursery School
We desire a flexible curriculum for all of the students in our fully inclusive school to help them develop into autonomous learners who genuinely love learning. As they progress through our school, we want them to be imaginative and creative thinkers with strong communication skills who are also excellent listeners and self-assured speakers who can draw on a growing vocabulary. By the time they complete Key Stage 1, we want our kids to have had plenty of opportunities to make friends and develop their ability to work well in a variety of groups鈥攑airs, threes, teams, etc. In order for our kids to be "future proof" as they transition to new environments and opportunities, we want them to be free thinkers who ask questions, are prepared to assess and generate new ideas for themselves. We want to provide the students with the chance to experience risk-taking from their very first days at our school and to accomplish this whenever possible by engaging in outdoor learning. We want kids to realise that mistakes are inevitable since they force all of us to grow as learners. In order to support all of this, we want the KRIII curriculum to draw from a broad range of subjects that incorporate lots of real-world experiences, outings, and "wow moments," intimately tying in with the dynamic and wealthy neighbourhood that surrounds our school.
