Barbara Priestman Academy is a pleasant, friendly school that places a strong emphasis on developing students' social and intellectual skills. We try to accommodate each student's and their family's unique needs. We are a particular academy for adolescents with profound learning challenges or autistic spectrum disorders, ages 11 to 19. The Ascent Academies' Trust, a collaboration between two senior special schools in Sunderland, one all-age school in Easington, and one primary school in Billingham, includes Barbara Priestman Academy.
