Our mission at Abbey Manor College is to instil "hope, dedication, and achievement" in each of our students. Regardless of their circumstances, financial background, or starting position, the College is dedicated to providing students with an exemplary education as an alternative to their classmates in mainstream education. This is accomplished through excellent teaching and learning, as well as a flexible, responsive, and individually designed curriculum. On entrance, students undertake a holistic examination that includes an evaluation of academic aptitude, SEN, therapeutic, and pastoral requirements because many students experience high levels of trauma and will have severe learning gaps. In order for students to understand where they are headed after statutory schooling, a career roadmap is laid out. For Key Stage 4 students, we provide an entitlement to at least 5 GCSEs, or the equivalent, and we monitor progress using high quality and reliable data to provide interventions that close the achievement gap, promote reintegration, and deliver on our commitment to equity. A diverse and approachable curriculum that aids children in their transition back to the regular classroom in KS3. For pupils who stay with the college through KS4, five GCSEs or the equivalent are required. Clear professional pathways that are supported by a Post 16 LSA/HLTA are available. Along with this, we provide extracurricular activities that promote kids in becoming kind and respectful adults by fostering their curiosity, resilience, balance, independence, and thinking. With the help of their tutor, teaching assistant, learning mentor, and outside providers, students can create the pastoral care that is essential for keeping them interested in their studies. Students will have the chance to participate in the ambassador programme, which gives them the leadership responsibilities from staff recruitment to regular meetings with the Headteacher as well as representing student voice, as student voice and social justice permeate through everything we do at the college.
