From the Turney Primary and Secondary Special School
Greetings from Turney School. It gives me great pleasure to announce that Turney School is a member of Lansdowne Turney Federation. In Lambeth, there are two SEND schools that make up the Federation. For children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, language delay or disorder, and related learning issues, we regard both schools as communities. The Turney School is dedicated to serving children and teenagers with autism spectrum disorder and related learning challenges, ages 5 to 19. Across the Federation, it is crucial to focus on a child's and adolescent's overall development. Our mission is to offer a safe, loving, and encouraging atmosphere where students can be expected to work hard and reach higher standards. This is evident in everything we do and on our entire website. Both schools apply an holistic approach to learning, and work closely with the speech therapists, the occupational therapist and the educational psychologist, the school doctor and nurse, as well as outside agencies to enable all children and young people with special educational needs to access the curriculum. The National Curriculum, the personal, social, health, and citizenship curricula, as well as a life skills programme, are all fully accessible to every young person enrolled at Turney. Young people in Turney's Post-16 programme pursue a life skills, independent living, and supported employment pathway, enabling them to graduate from Turney as contented, independent youth prepared to enrol in further education. Through the sharing of staff knowledge and training, the two schools in the Federation collaborate closely to guarantee the best outcomes for the children and young people. Children and young people collaborate between the two schools in keeping with our shared ideal. PSHCE and work experience programmes are shared, and students in KS3 and KS5 have the option to switch assignments within the Federation.
