We foster the essential Gospel values of creativity, respect, spirituality, and love as a Christian learning community by using a curriculum that is motivated by the wonder of God's creation.
Weekly liturgies and assemblies are held at the school to support the Gospel ideals of love, respect, creativity, and spirituality, all of which are encouraged in every facet of school life.
Every child learns about and appreciates the significance of the World Wars, and we commemorate them on Remembrance Day with respect and reverence.
Examples include CAFOD, NSPCC, and the shoe-box appeal. At St. Mary's, students are encouraged to grow a strong sense of moral obligation.
They took part in the implementation of our kid-friendly anti-bullying policy more recently.
All facets of school life continuously emphasise the value of laws, whether they be those that regulate the class, the school, or the nation.
Children are taught the importance of laws, their justifications, how they rule and protect us, the duties that come with this, and the repercussions of breaking the law.
In our PSHE/jigsaw curriculum, the Rule of Law notion is also reinforced through learning activities.
Children are taught to take ownership of their actions and recognise the repercussions of all inappropriate behaviour.
The school puts a lot of effort into helping all students make wise behavioural decisions.
All students actively participate in developing their own class rules, as well as our school's rules and the potential consequences for breaking them.
This helps our kids comprehend the purpose of regulations and how they maintain order.
The knowledge, comprehension, and exercise of children's rights and freedoms are fostered.
Children learn about their right to say no and what to anticipate when they say no through our Jigsaw classes and collaboration with the NSPCC.
We encourage the kids at St. Mary's to think about how their decisions might influence those around them as well, with the very obvious message that "you could do this but what if...?"
One of our main goals is to make sure that every child develops academically and personally. This goal is founded on the gospel.
Any child who needs pastoral support will receive it in order to help them grow in respect for themselves and others.
We are really fortunate to have a large and diverse school community, which provides a fantastic opportunity to practise and advance "mutual respect" skills.
We adhere to the God Matters agreed-upon RE syllabus and make extensive use of additional materials to improve the PSHE programme.
All through the year, the kids are taught about several world religions and some of their holidays.
We have invited religious leaders from other traditions to lead assemblies, workshops, and debates with our students.
We shall keep promoting and supporting British values because they help our kids become good, responsible citizens of Poole and the rest of the globe.
