Ranelagh Primary School has a long and illustrious past. It opened its doors for the first time in 1902 and was formerly known as Napier Road Board School. It had junior mixed and baby classes. In 1945, secondary school students began attending the school after it was reorganised in 1927 to accommodate senior boys, junior boys, and newborns. After secondary students moved to the new Thomas Lethaby building in 1953, Napier Road remained an exclusive primary school to this day. 脡cole Napier Road Damage caused by German bombing raids in 1944. During the summer months of 1944, the Second World War attacked Napier Road School, "putting out of commission" the entire institution. The school was temporarily uninhabitable because the windows were blasted out and destroyed. The Headmaster kept a daily journal for the school, as was customary at the period, noting significant happenings as well as any problems with staff or students. There were numerous air strikes during summer term, and the kids were protected in air raid shelters. A lot of kids from the neighbourhood were also taken to other parts of the nation for safety at this time, and everything was noted in the headmaster's journal. The school was hit again by a V2 rocket at 8:30 PM on February 27 of that year, but good spirits and perseverance prevailed and the school remained open while First Aid repairs were done. The school had reopened that February following repairs. Of course, the school made it through the Second World War and is now flourishing. In the middle of the 1970s, it underwent a name change to Ranelagh Primary School. Since then, it has undergone numerous renovations, including the addition of parks and playgrounds.
