New primary Free school Paxton Academy began operations in Thornton Heath in September 2014. Our goal is for every student to achieve academic and personal excellence, with a focus on: a) a solid foundation in literacy and numeracy abilities. a) Specialty subjects in science and athletics c) an international perspective provided by the highly regarded International Primary Curriculum (IPC); and d) each child's personal growth. In all we do at Paxton, your child's happiness, health, and wellbeing are our top priorities. Therefore, we'll work to make sure all kids get enough exercise every day and learn how to form trusting connections with other people based on mutual respect, friendliness, and equality. We aim to develop a caring, supportive environment where children are confident and make strides in their learning because of high quality teaching delivered with passion, enthusiasm and high expectations for all with a collective determination to succeed (a fundamental attitude that will be instilled in all children). Through our extended curriculum, your child will experience an amazing wealth of opportunities from an array of creative subjects such as music, art, performance poetry and drama to a wide range of sporting activities which will include both traditional and non-traditional sport as well as activities to challenge thinking and problem solving such as philosophy for children, enterprise, chess and debating.
