Old Swinford Hospital is a happy, vibrant and distinctive state boarding school in the heart of the West Midlands. We pride ourselves on the breadth and depth of our education, both within the classroom and beyond.


As an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ state boarding school, we are proud to provide an environment which offers similar advantages to that of private boarding schools, at a fraction of the cost. Our fees do not attract VAT.


We are a community of many parts where we encourage each student to be themselves, and also to make their own contribution. Diversity of life is embraced, and learning live – not simply work – alongside one another is a life skill that cannot be underestimated. We encourage all our students to discover who they can be in the unique OSH community.


Extensive sports facilities mean many teams hold regional or national titles. Our 1st XV rugby team are current state school champions after winning the John Fisher Festival in October 2024; and our cricket teams have placed OSH in The Cricketer’s Guide Top 25 State Schools for the first time in 2025. Plus, with more than 45 co-curricular clubs and 10 music ensembles; excellent STEM laboratories; teaching kitchen and two climbing walls; and new art, drama and dance studios, there’s plenty to get involved with.


Offering Tailored Boarding, Flexi-Boarding and Day Places for boys and girls aged 11-18 students live together, learn together and thrive at OSH.
