Lawn Primary School works to give students a solid moral, compassionate, giving, and selfless foundation upon which to build their futures.
Children should be respected for their uniqueness, culture, and heritage, and encouraged to reach their greatest potential in an atmosphere that is stimulating, secure, and loving.
We teach kids to take ownership of and responsibility for their education so they may be curious and self-assured when they ask questions, work through challenges, and respond to constructive criticism.
Creating a culture of responsibility helps kids to be independent and increases their self-esteem.
Children are also taught to assume accountability for their own behaviour and learning.
Lawn teaches its students to respect themselves and one another.
They accept equality and variety, and they value individuality.
All of the things we do at school should reflect our values regarding learning.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks with grace, equilibrium, and humour; it is the understanding that everyone makes mistakes, but that successful people are better at handling them; it is the ability to see setbacks as opportunities for growth and fresh beginnings.
The ability to collaborate with others, pool abilities, and create group solutions; to know when to ask for help from and support other people; and to make wise decisions about when to speak out and when to compromise.
Persistence is the willpower to persevere in difficult circumstances and the understanding of the value of intellectual battle. It is also the readiness to look for alternatives when faced with challenges.
Originality is the propensity to visualise, connect, be creative with one's thinking rather than think along predetermined lines, and to think laterally in order to come up with new ideas and tackle challenging issues.
Reflectiveness is the propensity to study, mull over, and take into account tactics and strategies that have been tried; to evaluate both triumphs and mistakes in order to maximise one's potential.
Risk-taking is the daring to attempt something new, to push oneself to learn something new, even when success may not be guaranteed, rather than to go with the safe alternative.
