From the Lawn Primary
In 1976 a group of mothers started Cleeve Lawns Playgroup to provide a much needed pre-school group for children in the Lawns area, initially using two classrooms in the Pratten block at Lawns Infant School. The Playgroup was successful in leasing the full three-classroom block in 1981. The Playgroup now has a safe place to live, first-rate amenities, and financial independence. The DfES approved us for the Nursery Vouchers Scheme in 1997. Our name was changed to Lawn Pre-School in 2001. We relocated from the huts to our new location in Lawn Primary School in 2006. We merged with Lawn Primary in September 2017 to form Lawn Primary and Nursery School. The Nursery has a high adult: child ratio ensuring plenty of attention for all children in the group. All children are assisted in reaching their potential at their own speed thanks to our key worker system. The Nursery, building upkeep, and staff training are all covered by nursery fees and voucher support. Please be aware that accepting a spot at Lawn Nursery DOES NOT get you priority admission to Lawn Primary School. Please check online at www.swindon.gov.uk on how to apply for a primary school place (applications are made in the September before your child is due to start school), and school catchment areas.
