As the end of a very long term draws near, I'm writing to give you an update on things at school.
Some of you are aware that schools receive funds each year referred to as "Devolved Capital" that are only allowed to be used for capital expenses like building costs and not revenue expenses like staff pay.
The weatherproofing of an abandoned bike store for lockers was one of the tasks we completed over the February half-term.
As a result, all meetings to support students with special needs or safety concerns can now be held in schools, keeping our Heads of Year and Safeguarding team, including senior leaders, on-site and much more accessible for students. Previously, students had to travel further to attend lengthy meetings elsewhere.
Additionally, we now have a space for staff training, outside bookings, and student meetings. It was used for Debate Mate last week, and the Youth Forum will meet there as well.
Along with this, we changed the use of the restrooms closest to the front desk to that of employees and visitors, with students using the restrooms directly above them.
This meant that students who required these facilities in E block had to share them with staff because we are the designated school for pupils who need an accessible facility, including wheelchair users.
In addition to this modification, we are also assessing all student restroom options. I'll keep you updated on this in a subsequent blog.
We urgently need to invest in and enhance our Sixth Form offerings, therefore I've selected Mrs. McDougall as Deputy Head Teacher to spearhead this initiative over the next three years.
This position entails revamping "Bewdley Sixth Form," maintaining the best elements while adding strength where it is needed, and relaunching the sixth form.
Energy and enthusiasm can only get us so far, therefore we must make significant capital investments in the buildings and infrastructure to complement this and make the sixth form the logical next step for our students and, in fact, for external applications.
Additionally, we were able to gain an additional 20,000 investment from our catering provider for the renovation of the sixth form cafeteria.
With this amount of funding, we can finish a thorough evaluation and facility redesign for the sixth form.
To enhance the education of the children at The Bewdley School by providing and aiding in the supply of facilities for comprehension and participation in scientific research at the school (which are not required to be given by the local education authority).
Create a home for the society at the school's own research centre over time.
If not a charity, it will at the very least be a club for students run by the school with the aforementioned objectives.
Over the past year, as we developed a number of ways for parents to stay in touch with the school through either our social media, the website, or our parent app, there has been overwhelmingly positive response and input from parents.
We are thrilled to announce that our brand-new school app will arrive in April as a result of feedback from parents regarding what they would want to see next in the app.
I want to express my gratitude to parents for their overwhelmingly positive response to our efforts to make sure that pupils are appropriately prepared for their classes.
objectives is simply to make sure that we don't waste instructional time on arguments that don't benefit kids' learning.
We are updating our PE kit and uniform in light of these difficulties to reflect our new name and emblem.
Towards the end of the summer term, every current uniform will be rebranded with the new Swan logo and put on sale (in time for September).
The blue (summer) polo shirts with the new emblem stitched on them will soon be on sale.
Again, until a necessity develops, parents/caregivers are not required to buy the new uniform.
These changes are a phased replacement rather than a wholesale change on a specific date, as we are painfully aware that for many families, uniform costs can be prohibitive, and we do not wish for perfectly serviceable clothes to be replaced or for families to have to bear unnecessary costs.
Prices and ordering details for the new PE kit's mandatory and optional elements are listed below.
