Emilio Fox Castineiras and Faith Axon-Kendall, two Year 12 students from Xaverian College, were recently crowned the winners of this year's Talking About Voices competition, which was run by Manchester Voices. The study project Manchester Voices examines the wide variety of accents, dialects, and identities found in Greater Manchester. The Talking About Voices competition, one of the project's six components, provides Greater Manchester secondary school and college students with the opportunity to learn about audio production while also taking language and identity into consideration. The objective is for the students to produce a quick podcast episode about identity and language. Throughout the process, suggestions, guidance, and assistance will be given frequently. We are both excited to learn other languages in the future and feel that because language and identity issues are so pervasive in modern society, it is essential for young people to pay attention to them. According to Dr. Holly Dann, Research Associate at Manchester Metropolitan University, "We started Talking About Voices in 2020 to give young people from the area a voice in our study and to give the local community materials based on the project." We assume that young people will better understand that value if they consider language and identity-related challenges. English is a fascinating lesson if you like reading and talking to others. A Levels in English Language, English Literature, or a combined English Language and Literature degree are all options available to students at Xaverian, allowing them to spend one class studying Shakespeare and the next utilising their own words to enchant the world. At Xaverian College, one of the largest post-16 educational institutions in the region, more than 2500 students have access to an array of intriguing possibilities.

I travelled from Bolton just to go to this college- it was worth the travel time. The teachers cared about learning as well as wellbeing, the pastoral team was exceptional in helping with mental health issues and learning difficulties. I wish they had more study areas, but the college works well with the resources that it has.
