The Westgate C.P. School and Nursery is located next to the hospital in Bury St. Edmunds, a charming and historic town in the very centre of Suffolk.
Children who graduate at the end of Year 6 typically transfer to King Edward VI School, also in the heart of Bury St. Edmunds.
We also have the honour of housing a Hearing Impaired Unit, which gives all kids the chance to practise learning sign language.
The mainstream class of each kid in the Hearing Impaired Unit is fully integrated.
As a dedicated member of the community, Westgate C.P. School and Nursery seeks to support our kids and families in various ways.
Along with our team of teachers, we also employ a sizable number of support personnel. Among other things, we provide children with extensive speech and language support and employ an ELSA specialist who has received special training.
We have a committed employee that works with families to provide support and serve as a liaison to other organisations.
For further information, please visit our pastoral care website, as well as our SEND and S&L pages.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would want to schedule a visit to the school to see it for yourself.
My name is Jenny Cockett, and I would like to introduce myself as the headteacher of Westgate C.P. School and Nursery. I joined the school in April 2018 as a seasoned headmaster with 18 years of experience, the majority of which were spent in Suffolk.
Parents and carers are always welcome in the school and are encouraged to participate in their children's education.
