The lovely town of Maldon, in the east of Essex, is served by Wentworth Primary School, which was established in 1969. Ten miles away lies the county seat of Chelmsford, which offers superb shopping as well as vital transportation links to Colchester and London. Maldon has a long history that dates back to Saxon times, in large part because of its advantageous location on the River Blackwater estuary. Due to the superior salt produced, the flat saltings have earned the Maldon Salt Company a household name. The town welcomes tourists of all ages in the summer, who take advantage of the river's amenities and the gorgeous promenade with its iconic Thames barges. Maldon's housing boom has caused the school's enrollment to increase since 2000. The average number of students the school accepts for each year group is sixty.
