Parents and carers who are thinking about applying for a child who will be leaving primary school in September can find information on this page.
If you are thinking of applying at any other time, please read the "In Year" section below or get in touch with us for more details.
The brochure A Secondary School for your Child in Bath & North East Somerset explains the Local Authority's decision-making process for assigning Wellsway's Year 7 spots. All parents and guardians with kids in the last year of primary school in the B&NES region are given a copy of A Secondary School for Your Child in Bath & North East Somerset.
Although parents have the ability to select the school of their choice, their options may be limited by the school's capacity.
The admissions code and our criteria are scrupulously followed because Wellsway School is typically oversubscribed.
If Wellsway is your top option for a school, be sure to indicate that on your application for a Year 7 spot.
Please be aware that applications for Year 7 positions beginning in September must be submitted through your "home" local authority and will be processed in accordance with local policies.
Year 7 appeals: The deadline for submitting an appeal is April 1, 2020, if you intend to appeal for a year 7.
Applications can be submitted starting in mid-June if a spot for a September admission to an existing year group is desired.
You must fill out the application form below and send it directly to the school if you want to apply for a school spot next year.
The B&NES Democratic Services division handles Wellsway School appeals.
The B&NES appeals information pamphlet has more details regarding the appeals procedure.
At the beginning of Year 6, you will receive a letter outlining the secondary transfer procedure and outlining how to apply for a secondary school place. Wellsway School has one area of prime responsibility (APR).
By the deadline of October 31st, you submit an application to your local school district for a spot in the next school year.
On March 1, parents and carers who submitted an application before the deadline will get an offer of a school spot.
Parents/caregivers must accept or reject the Local Authority's offer by the middle of March.
Parents/carers are asked to reply to B&NES Admissions and Transport to accept or reject the offer of a school made by mid-March.
This may lead to the school having additional openings for enrollment.
In the subsequent round of allocations, these spots will be made available.
In the first week of May, B&NES Admissions and Transport distributes a second batch of offer letters.
Only members of Wellsway School staff (both teaching and non-teaching) applying for a place for their child need to complete a supplementary application form (Pdf).

Excellent school. Very supportive environment and offers many opportunities for pupils. Quick to deal with any problems and my child has made good progress and gained confidence since starting here.
Nearly a third of children let down. Lack of support for some subjects in gcse years. Lack of detail in children’s school reports
