Our school, which is located in a lovely rural area, has a superb selection of facilities, including a private outdoor pool and a Forest School programme. Since 2007, Weare School has received a "Outstanding" rating in every inspection and report (2007 Ofsted inspection, 2011 Ofsted Report, 2013 Diocese statutory inspection). Our results in reading and math routinely outperform the national average. Ofsted commented, "children at this school not only do outstandingly well at their work, but also develop their personal and social self-confidence, often quite dramatically." In the Parent View survey conducted by Ofsted, all parents said they would refer another parent to Weare Academy Church of England First School. Being a Church of England school, we acknowledge and value our enduring Christian roots. In January 2013, The National Society judged that, "The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Weare Academy Church of England First School, as a Church of England school are 'Outstanding'...There is a strong commitment to the development of the whole child, within the context and environment of an extremely supportive school community.". On its current location, Weare School was constructed in 1895. The Luttrell family and other notable residents of the area generously donated money to the school. In present years, the school buildings have been renovated and extended to accommodate over 140 pupils in five classes from reception to year 4. On 1st April 2011, the school's excellence was recognised by the coalition government and it became the first Primary School in Somerset, and the first 'First School' in the country to be awarded academy status.
