From the Walkington Primary School
We are quite proud of the traits and values that our students exhibit both in school and outside of it.
We remind them that going to school isn't only about gaining knowledge, skills, and credentials; while these things will surely open doors in the future, it will be their character, not their degree, that will lead them to success and happiness.
We are also conscious of the opportunities and difficulties presented by the complicated world in which our children reside.
We are confident that the moral compass they will receive at Walkington School will help them navigate this world and enable them to fully understand and enjoy modern life.
We are dedicated to assisting all of our students in comprehending and coping with these messages and promoting positive self-esteem.
We prefer the broader concept of "human values" when discussing them with children, even while we defend the Government's "modern British" principles of democracy, liberty, the rule of law, and tolerance of other faiths and cultures.
Bullying and bigotry have no place in an inclusive society, according to our beliefs.
In the exceedingly rare cases where kids act inappropriately given someone's traits, we will take advantage of the situation to reaffirm the school's ethos and values through restorative work.
We were thrilled when the Archbishop of York requested to visit our school to learn more about our work on human rights.
The best way to understand this, though, is to spend time with our kids at school and in their environment; I genuinely feel they embody these values and will carry them into adulthood.
