This subject is particularly interesting since our perceptions and interpretations of the world influence our beliefs and actions. A student's possible lack of empathy or social awareness may affect their capacity to understand or embrace some of our core British values. Lawbreaking, social marginalisation, or other negative behaviours could come from this. By integrating British principles into every subject, we challenge students to consider their place in society and the responsibilities placed on them critically. The respect and tolerance of other people, their faiths and beliefs, and how to cooperate politely with differences of opinion or view are topics covered throughout assemblies, tutor time, and reflection times. Additionally, we teach our students how to stay safe in a rapidly evolving world where knowledge is readily available at the touch of a button and ideas are thrust upon us via social media and sensationalised reporting. We monitor online behaviour and support learning objectives to make sure that our pupils are aware of the dangers of extremism and grooming. Social, moral, spiritual, and cultural learning (SMSC) is covered in the PSHE and PSD curricula, and scaffolded growth happens through social interactions. We look at several parts of society and how they affect the creation of a thriving and diversified local and global community. Students will have additional opportunities to apply their knowledge and understanding through experiential learning, field trips, and other activities.
