From the Unity City Academy
Welcome to Unity City Academy where our vision is of a school in which staff and students have a determination to succeed, a love of learning, pride in the academy and a strength of character. We are devoted to ensuring that every student has the intellectual and emotional tools necessary to lead successful and satisfying lives. The vision programme, which is followed by all pupils, strives to foster nine essential character attributes (curiosity, courage, empathy, enthusiasm, gratitude, integrity, resilience, self-belief and self-control). It has been demonstrated that having these qualities improves academic achievement and increases the likelihood of success in the future. Tutors and students collaborate extensively to build these qualities, monitoring students' development throughout the year and taking appropriate action as needed. Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and enrichment programmes in addition to the character development that occurs during academic learning sessions. These lessons emphasise character development and the acquisition of extra skills that will support students' academic success. This offering is supplemented by three 'Super Citizen Days' which allow students to spend additional time developing their understanding of social norms, future opportunities and British values. At Unity City Academy, we strive to create successful, well-rounded students who can take advantage of all the opportunities available to them in the twenty-first century. We are confident that our pupils will do this through acquiring a strong sense of character, a will to succeed, and a love of learning.
