From the Tanfield School
At Tanfield School, we want to support students in pursuing their academic dreams, finding their perfect career, and succeeding in all parts of their lives. Thoughts abound, but there is only one goal. Our basic values of honesty, integrity, and justice permeate all we do. From the moment they enrol at Tanfield, we want students to uphold the following principles: diligence, trust, and fairness. The three primary motives of mastery, autonomy, and purpose are also highlighted (Dan Pink, "Drive"). Mastery is the drive to do better at the vital things, whereas autonomy is the drive to live our own lives. We take care to clearly communicate our vision, core values, and guiding principles each day so that everyone in the school community is aware of why we are doing in the way that we are. We are conscious that if we want students to uphold our high standards, we must invest in building very strong relationships with parents, carers, and families. Tanfield School invites your involvement. We want you to take an active role in your child's education and support our staff as they work with your child. You are more than welcome to visit us at any time. If you do, you will see why we are so proud of our students.
