In 1851, the first school, located in Heath Road, was inaugurated. There were 50 newborns, 150 girls, and 200 boys in the accommodations. Its name was St. Thomas's National School, and it cost $859 to build. The structure was shaped like a St. George's Cross, and wooden barriers separated the apartments. The majority of the students attended the pre-existing Sunday School, and many of the kids were the offspring of parents who worked at the hinge-making factory next to the school. Now, every child over the age of eleven attended either the Grammar School or the Senior School. the Modern School, later. The Junior School now accepted children between the ages of 7 and 11. This began barely two weeks before hostilities began, and for a while only half the kids could attend school while air raid shelters were being built. The school was designated as an Aided School by the 1944 Education Act. At a cost of $228,320, a new school building was constructed on Hodnet Drive. The Warrington Bishop officially opened the structure in 1979. The previous Junior and Infant Buildings at Heath Road were replaced by this structure. To fulfil the Government's Pledge that no child in KS1 should be in classes of more than 30, the new Y2 classroom was constructed.
