The values and virtues are a major focus in Catholic teachings from Learning and Growing as the People of God at the Archdiocese of Birmingham's Catholic schools. The students' values and virtues demonstrate both their spiritual development and the growth that schools foster in their students. There is a distinct focus each half term. These principles and qualities come from the Jesuit Institute, which is founded on St. Ignatius's teachings. Eight pairs of complementary words were placed together to generate a Pupil Profile. The Jesuit materials can now be used by the Archdiocese of Birmingham under the term Catholic Schools Profile. Every half term, the entire school will concentrate on a particular pair of words. We will spend time discussing the terms' meanings and how we perceive these values and virtues manifesting themselves in our own lives and the lives of others. The definition of the words is discussed in class and during assemblies for the entire school. The class virtue and value trees serve as a celebration of those who exhibit these qualities.
