The Local Authority runs the "Make Someone Smile" campaign every year on what is regarded as the most sad day of the year. This year, they encouraged all young people and employees to write down their funniest joke, which was entered into a competition judged by local comedian Chris Ramsey. The new South Shields library, The Word, will showcase all of the submitted jokes from across the authority. The young people named below have either made the short list or, in the case of Year 5 student Lily, Chris Ramsey selected her joke as the winner. On Monday, January 16, they are invited to a presentation with the mayor at The Word. Tomorrow, letters will be delivered. Congratulations to everyone of our kids who participated in the competition, made the short list, or, in Lily's case, won! What is a crab that doesn't share its toys called? Keelsmans Way Council plus Leyton (Year 6 St. Oswald's Hebburn). Two fish were in a tank, and one of them remarked, "I hope you can drive this thing." The Lord told John, "Come forth, and you will obtain eternal life," but John finished fifth and received a toaster instead.
