In 1867, two sisters taught 75 students between the ages of 5 and 10 in the Parish Rooms, a structure that is currently the location of our school.
Over 100 orphan girls were trained at the Industrial School, a two-story flint and stone structure with a brick addition, to become domestic helpers.
The nuns made the decision to combine their approximately 200 students into one school, called as St. Osmund's Parish School.
By the end of World War II, the orphanage had been phased out and St. Osmund's Parish School had increased in size to over 400 students in 15 classes spread across five dispersed sites.
The older, secondary-aged students didn't transfer to a new school in Laverstock until the early 1960s, called St. Joseph's.
The Exeter Street location, which became known as St. Osmund's Catholic Primary School, continued to house the juniors and younger students.
Various artefacts from earlier eras have been found as improvements have been made over time.
The gravestones that line the garden area's far wall serve as a reminder that the school once served as a convent.
The historic flint and brick structure has been recognised as a Grade II landmark on Exeter Street.
Former students have travelled as far as Australia to attend.
Our international student body today is evidence that a Catholic school is a truly global institution.
