The Church of England Authorities initially constructed this school in 1848 at a price of roughly 492.4s 0d.
It was an all-age school that was designed to house 250 kids from the Kingsteignton Parish.
The Kingsteignton Junior School was constructed in 1837.
The British School was converted into the local Junior School, which was in charge of instructing all children aged 7 to 11, and this institution was renamed the Infants School.
In 1987 and 1988, there was major remodelling done at a cost of nearly $400,000, and the school relocated during that time.
The Pound House, a barn that had previously been used to make cider for the village of Kingsteignton, was transformed into a classroom and meeting space in 1993.
The school donated $20,000 toward this goal, and the L.E.A. covered the remaining expenses. The school enjoys both old and new structures, with the latter being thoughtfully planned to complement the former.
It is very fortunate that the orchard and most of the original trees are still present, as are the grounds.
A portion of a neighbouring garden was purchased in 1994 to establish an environment area, which further improves the grounds. In 2005/2006, the grounds will be further developed to improve utilisation and make them more environmentally friendly.
Three more classrooms and a resource space were added to the school in 1998 as a result of additional construction work.
St. Michael's commemorated 150 years of instruction and assistance to the Kingsteignton community in 1998.
