I'm excited to share with you information about St. Michael's Church of England High School.
Our beliefs are based on the Christian faith because we are a Church of England Academy in the Diocese of Blackburn.
In order to give every student the chance to develop in body, mind, and spirit, to thrive as a child of God, and to experience the joy and hope of "life in all its fullness," staff, students, parents, and governors work closely together.
The highest percentage of Year 11 students to ever pass with at least five A* to C grades, including English and arithmetic, was 89% in 2016.
The school was ranked in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally for achievement in 2017 with 89% of students receiving at least five A*-C/9-4 passes.
We were equally pleased with the results from 2018, when students received an average "Attainment 8" score of 59, translating into an average GCSE grade of 6 (B), with an astounding 91% of students passing the foundational exams in English and maths at grades 9–4.
The 2019 results demonstrate our dedication to excellence, with a "Attainment 8" score of 58, 91% of students passing in English and mathematics in grades 9–4, and 74% passing with a high pass (grades 5 and above).
Our "excellent" SIAMS inspection in November 2018 and a Quality Mark for Holocaust Education in July 2019 provided additional evidence of our high standards (the reports are available on our website).
