Since 1867, St. Matthew's Church of England Infant School has been a vital component of the neighbourhood. We are a very compassionate and energetic learning community located in the lovely greenery of Downside village on the outskirts of Cobham. Our fundamental principles and dedication to excellent teaching and learning are at the core of everything we do, producing a strong, cohesive community that supports and develops learners who are joyful, self-assured, and successful. As a small school, we know and care for each child and family, working together to achieve the very best for individuals in an environment that is both nurturing and full of exciting challenges and fun curriculum experiences. Throughout their time with us, our students develop their skills, creativity, and confidence while enjoying and embracing learning and realising their importance as members of our school community. The school consistently achieves outstanding academic outcomes, but equally vitally, it gives students a solid personal foundation for a fulfilling and prosperous future. Ranked consistently with the top Surrey schools for KS1 results, St. Matthew's was praised by Ofsted (October 2013) for "inspirational teaching", "leadership of an exceptionally high standard", and a "varied and exciting curriculum". The knowledgeable and devoted staff functions as a "very successful team." Our hardworking staff team never stops striving to excel and deliver the best results.
