The account of Noah
The kids have been learning about East Hoathly's various principles and the school's vision this week.
Each value links to a biblical story.
Every class had a value on which to concentrate and do work.
The theme of reception was RESPECT.
The idea of respecting others through being courteous and listening was discussed with the kids.
The "Good Samaritan" was then acted out by the kids.
The value to be emphasised in Years 1 and 2 was ENJOYMENT, which was connected to the "Story of Noah."
The idea of enjoyment was brought up by the kids as they talked about the story.
Noah "had fun since he survived the deluge," according to Stan.
The creatures that were placed on Noah's Arc were collaged by the kids.
By reading the account of Jesus and his followers going fishing, students in grades three and four considered the benefits of working cooperatively.
Two stories were able to teach the qualities of EXCELLENCE and RESILIENCE to Year 5 and 6.
Ethan in Year 6 discovered the value of EXCELLENCE in the "Parable of the Two Builders," which Teddy in Year 6 defines as "listening to God's word."
George in Year 6 was able to recognise the importance of RESILIENCE in the tale of "Rebuilding Jerusalem." We acted out the history of the wall around Jerusalem, and I played Nehemiah.
Additionally, the RE Council collaborated to uncover the significance of CREATIVITY in the "Story of Creation."
