Skellingthorpe A medium-sized school, Saint Lawrence Church of England Primary School serves the community of Skellingthorpe and the surrounding area.
The mission of the entire school community is fundamentally influenced by our Christian identity as a church school.
At the end of each school day, we participate in a very special act of communal prayer.
At various times throughout the year, parents are welcome to attend worship with us.
Parents have the right to request that their kids be excused from participating in communal worship, but they must submit this request in writing to the headteacher.
However, we hope that parents are committing to their child's full participation in the Christian life of the school, including Religious Education and worship, by choosing a church school.
The headteacher and teachers make an effort to collaborate with parents on their children's education.
At meetings held each term, parents are also welcome to talk with teachers about their child's progress.
A detailed written report is issued to parents during the summer term.
In order to keep you informed of your child's development, interim reports are given during the Autumn and Spring Terms.
A Home School Agreement must be given to parents by every school.
On our website, under Policies, you may see the Home School Agreement.
You must inform the school if your child will be missing due to illness or doctor visits.
Any absences should be reported by phone or in writing.
We will always try to call you to find out the cause for the child's absence for those who are reported as being absent from school but the school has not been notified.
Parents must request absences from school for various reasons.
The absence will be noted as unauthorised if the Governors do not approve it but the child is nonetheless removed out of class.
The kids came up with them.
Positive reinforcement is given for good behaviour, and others are given examples of it.
Values and accomplishments are freely discussed and celebrated with the kids, including having a nice and fair attitude, working hard, and persevering through challenges.
Bullying is an action that might take place in any school.
Bullying of any kind won't be accepted.
by encouraging all students to watch out for kids who could have been the object of bullying or teasing; by urging older kids to watch out for and take care of younger kids.
In general, we agree that behaviours should be applauded in public and corrected in private, with the child never receiving the focus; instead, the behaviour is always the focus.
Recognition for good behaviour will be given, either privately to the kid in question or publicly in class or assembly.
One instance of enabling the youngsters to be Proud to Shine is Friday's Celebration Worship.
We all have the chance to recognise accomplishments and share instances of going above and beyond.
The Pride Cups are presented at this event.
The four most recent Pride Cup winners from each class are featured on their class pages, and each week the details of the winning classes are displayed on a board outside the school office.
