Welcome to our school website! My name is Lisa Portch, and I am the headteacher of St. John's Primary School. St. John's is a serene and welcoming country school that serves a comparatively small student body. There are currently 126 students in five classes, ranging from Reception to Year 6. Our attitude and philosophy is that we are committed to making sure that the kids are engaged and excited about what they are learning; where kids are pushed and encouraged to reach their best potential. The curriculum at our school is broad and balanced, and teaching and learning are creatively organised to ensure that each child's unique needs and interests are carefully examined and provided for. We promote creative thinking in kids and get them ready for the real world. I, our governors, and our fantastic staff team have a strategic vision to make sure the school keeps advancing and expanding for the benefit of all the kids. Collaboration between the school and the parents is crucial. Behaviour and homework policies have been written with input from all of the school community to ensure the expectations are clear and the children receive support from home and school as required. Parents are welcome to ask questions, voice concerns, or celebrate their children's academic and extracurricular achievements. This website can only provide a flavour of what we offer here at St John's and we understand how important it is to find the right school for your child. Therefore, if you are thinking that your child may want to attend St John's, please do come along and visit us to understand and experience the philosophy, vision and ethos of our school.
