This insight was generated by AI, based on latest Ofsted report.

Foundational Skills: Pupils achieve well because teaching is good and enables them to make effective progress in lively and interesting lessons.
Success of the Curriculum: Achievement has risen steadily since the previous inspection, with an increasing number of pupils reaching the higher levels in national tests.
Areas Needing Improvement: Accelerate pupils’ progress, particularly in writing, by developing teachers’ use of marking so pupils understand always exactly what to do to improve their work.
Performance in Maths & Reading: Progress in lessons throughout the school has improved and is securely good. The trend in attainment in the Year 6 national tests in English and mathematics remains consistently high and has improved at the higher Level 5.
Support for Falling Behind: Through good use of assessment information, an appropriately adapted curriculum and well-focused support, staff make sure that pupils from all backgrounds perform to a similar standard.
Behaviour and Attitudes: Pupils benefit from good relationships with staff and their behaviour is good, both in lessons and at play. They show considerable support for one another, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity.
Support for SEND Pupils: The effective links, combined with the school’s success in providing well-targeted additional support, ensure that those pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities make good and sometimes better progress.
Managing Bullying and Pupil Safety: Pupils’ welfare and personal, social and health needs are catered for well because the school works closely with parents and carers as well as with outside agencies. Pupils say they enjoy school, feel cared for and know exactly who they can talk to if they have any problems.
Promotion of Welfare and Safety: Staff ensure that safeguarding procedures are good, with the governing body making regular and rigorous checks on the school’s procedures and systems, particularly regarding site security.
Parent Feedback: A very large majority of the responses were positive and most of the written comments expressed considerable satisfaction with the school.
Parental Involvement: Regular meetings each half term with parent governors are encouraging even more parents and carers to play an active role in the life of the school.
Extracurricular Activities: The keen take-up of extra-curricular clubs demonstrates pupils' clear understanding of how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Teacher Engagement: Pupils’ keenness to learn is due in large part to the good relationships adults have with pupils and the interest and fun generated in lessons through the creative implementation of the curriculum.
Impact on Student Progress: Pupils achieve well academically. They are clear about their learning, talk with confidence and share their ideas willingly with one another.
Assessment of Teaching Quality: The school has systematically developed the use of assessment to plan tasks that are engaging and matched to pupils’ abilities well.
Teaching Staff Challenges: However, the very good marking is not yet a consistent feature in all classes because opportunities are missed to show pupils how to improve their work and accelerate progress.

For students in the London Borough of Barnet and the Diocese of St Albans, St Andrew's is a one-form entry, voluntary aided C of E school. We are a joyful, aspirational, and diverse school that reflects the wide variety of local families. Everything we do to ensure that kids are secure, content, and treat one another with respect and care is based on Christian and British values. The life of our school revolves around the daily act of worship. We learn to accept the individuality of each of us as we share and comprehend God's love and the Christian values that spring from it. We have strong ties to St. Andrew's Totteridge, our parish church, and we regularly attend services there with the kids participating actively. We enjoy playing on the Green because the school is located in the lovely Totteridge Common area. Our families are very important to us, and we think that our kids can only achieve their full potential if they are content and safe at school. Our staff members are kind and multi-talented, and they are dedicated to helping our students reach their greatest potential in all facets of school life. By working together, we hope to enhance our students' love for life and help them develop into enthusiastic autonomous learners who can confidently approach their secondary education. We cordially invite school visits; to schedule one, please get in touch with the school office.
