From the Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School
Greetings from QEGS. Formerly an independent school, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School is now a 4–19 coed Free School that offers the best independent education possible to the neighbourhood and beyond without charging tuition. In contrast to larger schools, we have the opportunity of getting to know each of our students and students well as individuals. Each has a Tutor who has oversight of his or her academic progress and is able to view it in the context of the individual's extra-curricular commitment so that, while we strongly encourage involvement in the many opportunities the school offers beyond the classroom, a sense of balance is maintained. We comprehend and concur with the notion that scholastic achievement must come first and that the highest outcomes are required. Only when pastoral care is of a high calibre and students and learners are able to contact staff with confidence that time and knowledge will be made accessible to them will this occur. We continue to uphold the independent-school spirit, emphasising exceptional behaviour, high academic standards, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Our 500 years of expertise has taught us that this combination is a surefire recipe for success.
