Progress Careers and Progress Schools, which function in very different ways but have the same objective and are governed by the same umbrella organisation, Progress Education, are two amazing organisations that I have the honour of directing. Through its thirteen independent secondary schools located around England, Progress Schools currently assists local authorities and mainstream schools in their efforts to deal with young people who require an alternative approach to their education. We guarantee a truly rounded curriculum that is delivered in a nurturing and supportive way, and we are able to identify the potential and aspirations of our young people and work with them to support them in accessing those opportunities when they leave us at the end of year 11. Our outstanding team of educators, engagement mentors, welfare officers, and others make this possible. More than half of young people who receive alternative provision (AP) or PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) type settings become NEET (not in education, employment, or training) after they leave school, according to the 2019 Timpson Review of School Exclusions. Progress Careers (formerly CareersInc) currently works with more than 60 secondary schools and academies, including multi academy trusts, to give an unparalleled careers advice service. Our aim is to boost the aspirations and ambitions of our young people and to support them in realising their full potential. This mission is shared by both organisations that fall under the Progress Education umbrella.
