From the Norwich Steiner School
In the living room of one of the parents' homes, a group of parents established a toddler club in 1998 that was inspired by Steiner. From this emerged a kindergarten, which formally opened a couple of mornings a week in January 2003 in St Augustines Church Hall in the north of the City. A nonprofit organisation named the Norfolk Initiative Steiner School was founded. A group of parents began the difficult process of creating a Steiner school for children from age 7 and up at the same time the kindergarten opened. Larger premises were found in the form of a hall and rooms at Bowthorpe Road Methodist church Hall in September 2004 and in September 2005, the lower school for pupils age 7 opened. Only three students made up the first class (seen above), and two of them left the school in 2017 at the age of 19. In September 2008, after a summer of redecorating, the School re-opened in its current Victorian premises set in three acres on Hospital Lane.
