It is a pleasure to welcome you to Melland High School which meets the diverse special educational needs of pupils between 11 and 19, is a support school for central and east Manchester high schools and is a National Support School. Melland High is a Bright Futures Educational Trust school, helping us to raise aspirations and drive up standards to ensure our students have real choices open to them when they leave school. I am incredibly thrilled to be the principal of such a strong and positive school that shares a building with Cedar Mount Academy in the Gorton Education Village. Here, in our encouraging and innovative state-of-the-art facility, our students succeed academically and thrive emotionally and socially. Students are expected to give it their all in all they do, have high aspirations, and perform their own best. We are committed to providing our pupils with an extensive, creative and inspiring curriculum and a range of opportunities both within and outside the classroom that allow them to develop their individual talents to the full. Teaching and learning is at the heart of Melland High School and our dynamic, motivated and experienced teams of teachers, teaching assistants and supporting professionals use every opportunity to help pupils do their best, and more. Working alongside senior leaders in education and our Executive Principal Judy O'Kane OBE, the school benefits from opportunities from across Bright Futures Educational Trust schools, giving our students and staff outstanding support to help them to excel. Recognizing the crucial role parents and other carers play in fostering the learning process, we place a special emphasis on their unwavering support. We also acknowledge the enormous impact that our extensive network of community partners has made to the school's continuous development.
