The Leigh Academies Trust includes Longfield Academy.
The Trust also oversees a number of more secondary academies. The Milestone Academy serves students with exceptional needs, together with The Leigh Academy, Stationers Crown Woods Academy, Mascalls and Wilmington Academies, and a number of main Academies.
Like all other secondary Academies in the Leigh Trust, Longfield is designed to follow the "small schools" philosophy of education.
The college setting aims to strengthen the bonds that already exist in a small community.
Each college's around 380 students in Years 7 through 13 are led by a Head of College and a group of devoted staff members.
The building houses specialised resources that are available to the entire Academy as well as separate facilities for each of the colleges Anderson, Matisse, and Galileo.
The majority of the Academy's communal spaces, such as the sports hall, dance studio, multigym, learning resource centre, Helix restaurant, and theatre, are located close to Main Road.
Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, who was born in London in 1836, was the country's first female surgeon and doctor.
By creating the London School of Medicine for Women and serving as the only female member of the British Medical Association, Garrett Anderson was a prominent figure in medicine at the turn of the 20th century.
She became involved in the suffrage campaign toward the end of her life and was elected Britain's first female mayor for Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
In 1917, Garrett Anderson perished.
Galileo Galilei, a prominent Italian astronomer, physicist, and philosopher, was born in Italy in 1564.
Galileo was charged with heresy in 1614 for promoting the idea that the Sun stood at the centre of the solar system.
Claude Matisse He was a leader of the Fauvist movement and one of the most important painters of the early 20th century. He was also a sculptor, printer, lawyer, and teacher. He is most known for his vivid, colourful, expressive painting style and his enormous paper cut-outs.
Henri Matisse spent 60 years creating images before he passed away on November 3, 1954, in Le Cateau, France, where he was born on December 31, 1869.
Matisse rejected the idea that colour must mirror reality and instead invented a revolutionary use of colour and shape. He also abandoned conventional artistic methods.
His work continues to influence many powerful image-makers today, such as cartoonists, advertising, and fashion and interior designers.
Henri Matisse was a latecomer to the arts, but he was nonetheless fortunate to possess two qualities: a vast capacity for work and a long life to witness that energy develop.

its crap and there are people threatening to kill someone. my child was threatened. my son said someone tried to kill themself.
overall not the best school ever some of the teachers are nice but most are strict they care more about the uniform than the teaching and guess what a kid brought in some prime i know its not allowed but then the teacher made the whole situation worse, she drunk it her self! There are too many bullies,If u have something wrong with you or you look or act different you will get picked on....
Look for another school. Head teacher is so concerned about what the girls are wearing and whether a tiny amount of flesh is showing or an outline of their body that nothing else matters. Child cannot wait to leave. Intimidating and bullying atmosphere.
