Welcome to the webpage for Longden School.
We are a rural school, nestled on the northern edge of the Stretton Hills with views of the Severn valley and the lovely county town of Shrewsbury below. Our three acres of grounds include a sports field, landscaped playing field, playground, Grace's garden, our quiet area, class cultivation beds, a mini allotment with a chicken coop, a wild area for climbing trees and building dens, and an outdoor classroom with a pond and dipping platform.
Sport is a perfect illustration of how we operate at Longden: we are determined to be successful, to build on our successes, and to improve things, and we are motivated by the joy of playing as a team, which is representative of the work of governors, teachers, support staff, parents, and students.
In a school where daily worship is the source of life, we work to instil values such as thankfulness, curiosity, joy, compassion, and hope rather than teaching students the "correct answers" to life's most important questions, such as "Who am I? Where do I Fit? Is There a Purpose for My Life?
We value the strong parental support that exists for the school.
Parents praise the school's efforts to make learning exciting and relevant, the numerous field trips and enjoyable projects that bring the curriculum to life, the staff's caring demeanour, the opportunities to be involved in their children's education, and the "open door" culture that encourages parents to be involved in school life in a variety of ways.
With the advent of the Nursery Center as a part of the school's expanded community offerings, we are also bigger than we were.
The facility offers full-time pre-school care (8.50 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday) for children ages 2 to 4, after-school care (3 pm to 6 pm) for children ages 2 to 11, and a part-time holiday play programme.
