From the Leventhorpe
I'm hoping that you and your kids are looking forward to and excited about September.
Don't worry; at Leventhorpe, we are confident that your child will find our school to be a stimulating atmosphere for learning as well as a warm and welcoming place where each student is both academically challenged and given careful support.
Your child will be assigned to a form group inside one of our eight houses when they join us in September.
We firmly think that effective communication is the foundation for creating positive bonds between faculty, parents, and students.
Therefore, feel free to get in touch with your child's instructor in the first instance if you have any worries.
In addition to the Form Tutor, the Head of Year plays a crucial role.
After the Form Tutor, the Head of Year will serve as the primary point of contact for pastoral issues.
To uphold the idea of a single point of contact, your child's head of year will go through the school alongside them.
We conduct a thorough survey on every area of the school every two years, asking both parents and children to participate.
Therefore, we urge all parents to take an active role in their kids' education and growth and to get in touch with us if there are any problems.
Your kids will have a tonne of brand-new, exciting things to see and do, as well as new people to meet and a tonne of new things to learn, and they'll all get used to it very fast.
.
Nobody cares more about a child's education than their parents or carers, but as a school, we are aware that it can be challenging to know how to support your kid in making the most of their educational chances.
We've attempted to provide you with some suggestions below about what you could do and say to encourage your child while they learn at Leventhorpe.
Remind your child that while attending an excellent school offers a positive learning environment, he or she is the one who actually does the learning, and always convey the belief that how hard they work is what really matters.
Always convey the idea that your child is in charge of and responsible for their education.
Be aware that the change from elementary to secondary school is really difficult.
Ask and remind your child to get things ready, but do not do it for them.
If you feel you have an important message about your child that all staff need to be aware of, then please let your child's Tutor know via email.
Form Tutor email addresses can all be found on the website Staff Contact List.
Support your child's home study by providing the resources, such as books and equipment, and a quiet place to work.
Encourage your child to catch up on work missed if they have been away.
For this reason, do not take you child out of school unless it is unavoidable.
Also, be confident and send your child to school if they just seem to be "off colour".
Finally, do not put pressure on your child to attain high levels too early.
Be patient and let your child show us what he or she can really do in their GCSEs and A Levels.
