The knowledge, comprehension, and abilities that kids have acquired in elementary school are to be expanded upon at Kingdown School.
As we build on current best practises and consider the opportunities and challenges that may be presented to our kids in the future, we continue to assess the curriculum that is provided to students at Kingdown School.
At the beginning of Year 7, students are assigned to vertical tutor groups.
Our curriculum aspires to uphold the fundamental value of personalised learning by providing each student with the best and most suitable learning environment.
In Year 7, there are about 300 kids.
Six Houses—Lords, Millennium, Silverstone, Twickenham, Wembley, and Wimbledon—will be assigned to students.
Students who attend Kingdown School and have elder siblings will be assigned to the same House.
Vertical systems are used to organise tutoring groups.
Students from Year 7 to the 6th Form are represented there.
Tutors stay with the same group and serve as the parents' and students' initial point of contact.
The group will get together for a tutor session or house assembly once a day during tutor time.
The primary organisational unit for the delivery of lessons is the teaching group.
There are 12 groups with about 25 pupils each.
The precise numbers entering the year group will determine this.
In their primary school, Year 6 students take tests in Term 5.
The Year 6 teachers then transmit along to Kingdown School specifics of each student's results as well as further detailed information.
During Term one, or during the students' last summer term at primary school, students at Kingdown sit a series of nationally recognised tests (Cognitive Ability Tests CATs) will be used to establish baseline data so that we can begin to track each student's progress through the school.
These will be used to assist teachers in establishing goals for Key Stages 3 and 4.
