From the King Edward VI Academy
The David Ross Foundation-sponsored King Edward VI Academy began operations on September 1st, 2012, and I am honoured to serve as its president. Every member of our learning community will feel that they are a part of something very special at King Edward VI Academy, where they will have the chance to realise their full potential. We chose "broadening vistas" as our mission statement for this reason. Every pupil has individual talents. We will foster the growth of well-rounded, self-assured individuals who will be a credit to themselves and their community thanks to our individualised curriculum and creative co-curricular programme. In the small rural market town of Spilsby, King Edward VI is a bi-lateral rural academy that accepts pupils between the ages of 11 and 19. We are a secondary academy that offers a grammar stream to all applicants in the first year. Based on their 11+ scores and the suggestions from their primary headteachers, students are divided into groups of similar ability. This indicates that in the best grammar school tradition, our most talented students meet the highest academic standards. The school provides a comprehensive range of curriculum options in contemporary, purpose-built facilities that take advantage of the newest technologies, catering to students of all academic levels. Whether they be academic, vocational, artistic, or athletic, everyone of our pupils is treated as an individual, and all of their requirements are satisfied. The Lady Jane Franklin School, who are our neighbours, shares a sports hall facility with the academy. Parents of new students are extremely welcome at the school, and we would be happy to give you the chance to explore what we have to offer your kid.
