From the The John Wesley Church of England Methodist Voluntary Aided Primary School
In September 2007, the John Wesley Church of England Methodist Primary School opened.
It is a green school that was designed to be completely self-sufficient.
The John Wesley School now enrols 445 students, ages 4-11.
On the outskirts of Ashford is where you'll find the John Wesley School.
The campus gives the school a misleadingly rural appearance.
It has a sizable catchment area that is diverse.
The majority of the kids are from Ashford's south, but some of the ones who belong to a church travel from farther away.
Geographically speaking, the John Wesley School is located on Wesley School Road, a street that enters a freshly finished and newly constructed residential neighbourhood.
The school does, however, provide a parent and employee parking lot as well as a drop-off area.
On the grounds of the school, there are also two sizable, covered bike sheds and scooter pods.
The John Wesley School actively works to uphold the status of both the Healthy Schools Initiative and the Eco Schools Initiative for the foreseeable future.
The school's name reflects its distinction as a joint Methodist-Church of England initiative.
The Methodist movement was started by John Wesley, an Anglican minister and theologian from the 18th century.
He was well known for his outdoor sermons delivered in town squares and on village greens.
At Winchelsea, near Rye in Sussex, John Wesley delivered his final outdoor sermon when he was 88 years old.
Both a cross and a tree are included on the school's crest.
The cross symbolises the school's Christian environment.
Our school's logo, which features a cross-shaped tree holding up a lush canopy, is a nod to John Wesley's final sermon.
