Being the headteacher of Horsforth Featherbank Primary School makes me happy. My aim is to ensure that children have a well-rounded education that underpins a commitment to providing a primary school experience which truly embraces the five outcomes of Every Child Matters: to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy & achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being. Our essential principles, which can be summed up as follows, are correctly reflected in our school's ethos and goals. -. SAFE, as the wellbeing and safety of the kids come first in everything we do; HAPPY because we know that ensuring students' happiness at school and fostering their sense of self-worth will enable them to perform better in the classroom and in their lives outside of it; GROWING because we think kids develop and grow in a variety of ways throughout their primary school years, including emotionally, physically, socially, spiritually, culturally, morally, and academically. We are all thrilled with our new look and think the handprints, which are so distinctive to Featherbank, maintain significant ties to the old school. The colours in the tree represent the four house teams that the children in school belong to (Robins, Eagles, Kingfishers and Owls), and the tree demonstrates our continued capacity for growth and development, whilst reflecting the period of growth that the school has been through in recent years. The new school slogan captures this: Because we pay attention to what our kids have to say and involve them in making plans to improve the school, we are confident that their safety and happiness are being maintained. We're all very delighted and proud that our school is a secure environment where everyone can develop and learn.
