For a number of years, it has been our practise to welcome parents to visit the classroom after school to view their children's work. We are aware that sharing a child's learning in a laid-back setting is enjoyable for both parents and kids. We have decided to offer these workshops for grades 3 and 5 on a Thursday after reviewing "Weekly Welcome" (formerly known as Family Friday). Year 4 and Year 6 courses will take place on a Friday. One reason for the change is that a number of classrooms are used by clubs on a Friday (some involving children changing for sport), which means it is difficult for parents and children to share the work in a relaxed atmosphere in those rooms. Additionally, we believed that spreading out the sessions over two days would make it simpler for parents of kids in different year groups to spend time with both (or all) of their kids. The classes will continue to take place between 3.10 and 3.30 p.m. There will, of course, be flexibility, for instance, if a parent has arranged time off work to accommodate 'Weekly Welcome' and their child is in year 3 or 6, they will still be able to come on a Friday. To share their child's work, they might have to take it to a different classroom or the library. We sincerely hope that you will continue to enjoy visiting your child's classroom to congratulate them on their accomplishments, and we are looking forward to having you in our community.
