From the Hillocks Primary Academy
Hillocks Primary values the diversity of backgrounds among all of our children, families, and the greater academy community. Every action we do at our academy is in line with British ideals. Our goal is to support our kids as they navigate life so they can develop into secure, compassionate, democratic, responsible, and tolerant individuals who contribute to both British society and the wider globe. We instil in our children the values of independence, originality, creativity, and respect for others in our community, school, and around the globe. The concept of democracy is taught in the curriculum as well as at gatherings and on special occasions. Teachers and other adults actively help kids distinguish good from wrong in the classroom, at assemblies, and on the playground. A zero tolerance standard for any type of aggression, abuse, or violence is outlined in the behaviour and anti-bullying policies, and this standard applies to kids, staff members, and families. We encourage kids to accept responsibility for their behaviours and place a strong focus on moral decision-making in our pastoral care. Bullying of all kinds is opposed and dealt with in the academy due to its strong anti-bullying culture. Children understand and are aware of the expectation that both adults and children should be treated with respect. Links and visits with neighbouring religious organisations and congregations are encouraged. To support and further talks regarding prejudices and bullying that is motivated by prejudice, learning in RE and PSHE has been implemented. We offer a curriculum that is diverse in terms of culture that respects and examines all major religions.
