Supporting charity causes is a very important aspect of our school life at Hayeswood, in our opinion. It aids in fostering a sense of gratitude and global awareness among the students at our school. Every year, parents, students, and staff participate in fund-raising activities to show how much we care about our school and to reach out in friendship to others. Our Wimborne Academy Trust schools and I recently worked together to raise almost $4,000 for the victims of the Nepal disaster. We collect money at our annual Christmas play. We have given the money to Julia's House Children's Hospice for a number of years. Every year at Harvest Festival, we urge our parents to donate items to aid others who are less fortunate than us. We have long provided financial support to the Salisbury women's shelter. In order to donate to the Routes to Roots organisation in Poole, we gathered toiletries, hats, scarves, and gloves in 2015. All of this began when one of our Year 4 students noticed a homeless man dozing off on the streets of Poole. The young child inquired as to what the school might do to assist the homeless. After hearing a charity team member speak in assembly one morning, we made the decision to set up recurring collections to show our support.
