Together We Are Growing and Achieving Respect for others Self-Belief Ambition After much discussion among all Grove Road residents, our Statement of Core Values has evolved. Towards the end of the Autumn Term 2014 all families were invited to respond to a special Home Learning task that focused upon identifying the values that they saw as central to what makes Grove Road special. Both parents and kids responded in a wide variety of ways. In January 2015 the staff and Governing Body also contributed to discussions and presentations about the values that they recognised in school at present and also those that they wished to identify as core values to shape our future. The Tree of Values that you can see below is the outcome. Our core principles are respect, self-belief, and ambition. These contribute to the trunk, or strength, of our community. These are the fundamental principles that guide our teaching, learning, and long-term goals. The leaves represent the principles and conduct that our guiding principles support. Independence. Creativity Many of the values that were frequently emphasised by both the children and their parents/caregivers are included in these leaves. It is here too that you find our four Learning Habits which have already become central to our language of learning at Grove Road. Overarching our Tree of Values, is our clear statement of intent, our shared purpose at Grove Road, that as a community we should be Growing and Achieving Together. Parents and Pupils were asked to submit their views and values as part of a Home Learning activity. Click HERE to see some of their contributions.
