From the Gillotts School
Gillotts is a school that is quite proud of its distinctive character. It sits on a 33-acre property on the outskirts of Henley-on-Thames and is one of four mixed 11–16 schools in south-east Oxfordshire. The 900 pupils who attend it are from Henley and the nearby towns. The campus includes a Victorian mansion and sizable grounds, all of which add to the school's unique character. Gillotts, a high-performing institution, has placed teaching and learning innovation at the centre of its growth. More than this, though, the school is refining its theories and procedures to make sure that every student's experience at the institution is customised to meet his or her needs. The tutoring programme, which places each child in a mixed-age group of around 20 students, is the focal point of this. Each tutee's academic progress is tracked by the tutors, who also help them improve their learning techniques. There is also a significant pastoral focus, as it is understood that students' wellbeing is essential to their ability to learn. Students are increasingly participating in school decision-making and collaborating with instructors to choose how they learn best. At Gillotts, academic standards are both high and rising. Compared to a national average of 40%, 57% of pupils in 2018 met the standard of proficiency in both English and math at the grade 5 level or higher. However, Gillotts also takes pleasure in being a hospitable and accepting community. Its motto, "non nobis solum," which means "not by ourselves alone," serves as the foundation for the school's culture of teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation. You are more than welcome to stop over and see us.
