Children who cannot read and write as well as their peers can feel stupid, lose confidence and self-esteem and give up. Children feel stigmatised when they are withdrawn from class to receive extra help at their existing schools, or feel discouraged when given easier work than their classmates. At Fairley House, we think the answer is to provide your child with a level playing field; a school where all the students go through comparable struggles. Children can regain their self-esteem and confidence by excelling, for some of them for the first time in their academic careers. Our goal is for the majority of kids to effectively reintegrate back into society. I have often witnessed how well-informed assessment, individualised instruction, and specialised therapy work for our kids. The course of their life is changed as a result. What previously seems impossible has become possible. Having worked for more than fifteen years in the field of dyslexia and dyspraxia, I understand just how wonderful that breakthrough is for parents and children alike.
